What makes mobile controls feel good
Touch controls are the make-or-break of mobile games, and most of the frustration I feel comes down to a few repeated mistakes. Good controls aren't complicated, they just respect where your thumbs actually are.
The best games keep the important inputs in the bottom corners where your thumbs naturally rest, and they avoid crowding the center of the screen where you're trying to see what's happening. Big invisible tap zones beat tiny precise buttons almost every time.
Virtual sticks are fine for movement but terrible for anything needing precision. When a game leans on swipes or contextual taps instead of forcing a fake gamepad onto glass, it usually feels far better.
If a game supports it, I always try one-handed play, because that's how most of us actually use our phones. The ones that survive that test are the ones I keep.
