Why turn-based games win on mobile
Mobile play is interrupted play. You start a session and then a text arrives, your stop comes up, someone talks to you. Turn-based design fits that reality in a way real-time games rarely manage.
With a turn-based system you can put the phone down mid-decision and pick it back up without losing anything. That's a huge deal for a device you use in short, scattered bursts throughout the day.
It's not that real-time games are bad, plenty are brilliant, but they demand your full attention and a stable moment to play. That's a bigger ask than most people can give during a normal day.
When I recommend RPGs and strategy games to friends who play casually, I almost always steer them toward turn-based first. It matches how people actually live with their phones.
